We are excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Vitalita team. Pull up a seat and get to know Rachael Miller.

Why did you become a PT?

I’ve always known I wasn’t suited to working in an office. Sitting still isn’t in my DNA… I’ve always got to be doing something and my career choices have reflected this urge: Lifeguard and Swim instructor, Zoo Keeper (truly!) and, now, Personal Trainer.

Sport and fitness have shaped who I am today, and I couldn’t imagine a life without movement. Now I get to share that passion with others!

I love working with people to help them reach their goals. No matter how big or small your goal: If it’s important to you, it’s important to me.

What would you be doing if you weren’t helping people become fit, healthy and happy?

Simple, I’d be volunteering full-time for Sea Shepherd.

If you could invite three influential people to dinner who would they be and why?

I spent over 10 years as a competitive swimmer and former Olympic Swimmer Susie O’Neill (aka ‘Madame Butterfly’) has always been a huge inspiration! She won a staggering 35 Australian titles, set multiple world records and won eight Olympic medals. Growing up, I wanted to be just like her.

The late Steve Irwin is someone I really admire. His respect for wildlife and his passion for conservation was inspiring and I’d love to hear what he had to say about the current state of the planet.

Finally, my favourite author, Mathew Reilly. Following rejections from all the major publishers, he self-published his first novel in 1996 and has gone on to become a New York Times best-selling author of 12 novels!

What is something interesting not many people know about you?

I’m incredibly passionate about conservation and I volunteer for Sea Shepherd Australia, a not-for-profit dedicated to marine conservation. As an onshore crew member, I spend a lot of my free time fundraising and helping clean up marine debris washed up on local beaches. In two years alone, volunteers collected over a million pieces of rubbish from Australian beaches… most of it plastic.

What is your favourite mantra or quote?

You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream – C.S.Lewis
